Nova Delphinus from Provence new
      #6029590 - 08/16/13 05:17 PM Attachment (39 downloads)

I can detect the delphinus nova with unaided eyes, quite difficult because of the moon light but very easy with binoculars.
My mag. estimation via the AAVSO map : 4.7 +/- 0.2
Here my sketch :

Michel,

Very fine capture. Got a good look at it tonight myself along with 2 other CN members.
Didn't do a sketch yet.

Frank

Michel,

Nice work! The star pattern around the nova in the wide field sketch is just as I saw it.

I looked again early this morning (0530 8/17 UT) with my 12x36 binoculars through high clouds and estimated the magnitude at 4.8, so it is dropping a little since your observation.

Very nice sketch. Thank you. From your work I can visualize just where Nova Delphini is located. Maybe I will catch a glimpse of it before it fades, if there is a clear night here!

Great sketch and naked eye catch Michel! Your 100X view shows the same limiting magnitude as my 127X view in an 8" from north central Kansas the last few days. Transparency cleared up last night and a few more 12th and 13th mag stars began to show, so I may modify my sketch to include them.

I may have seen it naked eye, but with the moonlight, it was hard to get my bearings. I definitely saw either Delta Sge or Gamma Sge, along with 29 Vul and Beta Del using averted vision, but never more than one at a time. There was a star that kept popping in and out just west of 29 Vul, but I could not tell if it was the Nova or something else. The night before through my 15X70 Binoculars, the nova and the 5.7 mag double star NNW of it looked to be the same magnitude. I'm hoping I can see naked eye it soon though!

Hi Larry
Thank you for your comments
You can have an idea of the magnitude looking to the aavso curve here under.
DMIB blue cross are my own observation. This curve show that the nova reach magn 6 now, very limit for naked eye.
Thank you for your interest here !
Michel
