I saw this on Phoronix:
Fedora 20 Will Likely Have Another Goofy Codename
Quote:

The current release, Fedora 19, is codenamed Schrödinger's Cat while the candidates for Fedora 20 include:

- Chateaubriand
- Cherry Ice Cream
- Eigenstate
- Félicette
- Heisenbug
- Österreich
- Santa Claus
- Superego

Anybody want a computer distribution codenamed:
"Heisenbug"?!?

It's no worse than Ubuntu or Android

Natty Narwhal, Lucid Lynx, Precise Pangolin?
How many people know what a Pangolin is?

Android: Cupcake, Donut, Froyo (frozen yogurt), Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean - next in line Key Lime Pie.

What's wrong weezy, have you lost track of Schrödinger's Cat?

Question: "How many bugs does your distro have?"

Answer: "We're not certain - it's a principal feature of Heisenbug!"

At least Ubuntu isn't fattening. I don't think anyone would eat a Pangolin.

Android upgrades and everyone wants to know when the next version is coming out the day after the upgrade. I think the names make people drool for dessert (another upgrade)

I don't want to hear it! I work at Cisco, we're all #'s here and it's downright confusing especially for customers!

I'm not sure who coined the term first, but it generally refers to the bug you can't reproduce any more when you have the code in a debugger (and are observing its state changes). It's a well known term in the industry.

Tanveer.
