I'm pretty sure that's where I ended up, Steve.

Yes it is the "Dirty Harry's" access, but the Dirty Harry trailhead is on the north side of the freeway. Iron Horse State Park--which is the John Wayne Trail--is an old railroad bed on the south side of the freeway. Coming from Seattle one exits on #38, takes a right, and follows the paved road past Olallie State Park, just before this paved road goes under the freeway to the Dirty Harry access there is a gravel road to the right. One takes that gravel road to the intersection with the John Wayne trail (about a mile). I'm sorry Steve, but I'm not good enough with the map programs to mark the site. Green Trails Maps--available in sporting stores like REI--has a map called MT SI NRCA, and it shows everything I'm talking about. And thank you all for the warm welcome. Hope to be observe with you in the near future!

John, I don't know how carefully you've been monitoring the thread before emerging from behind the curtain, but (in case you aren't aware) see my 9/28 post (page 5 of this thread) with the red & blue lettering, and consider yourself invited. If that will be the first you hear of the annual star party, say so & I'll direct you to more information.

I think this is where John is talking about.

That's the place. I see Google has the climbing rocks identified. I'm surprised they don't identify the two State Parks in the area. I've never seen where Google identifies any hiking trails.
Now at that point the John Wayne trail goes straight east and west opening up full view skies in those directions. To the north the land drops off and the horizon is the Cascades on the north side of the South Fork valley. I saw the Pleiades rise over the Cascades at about 8:00. I also checked off M81 and M82 almost directly to the north. During the day there are usually cars parked in the area. There is room for maybe 8 cars.

I'm going to head up your way (Lake Goodwin) tomorrow night for imaging. CSC shows clear so far.

Whats up with that CSC? I looked at the weather forecast and it doesn't favor imaging(but then I've been lied to by NOAA plenty of times)

Don't leave home without your DEW HEATERS

Oh yeah of course! I usually go to a friend's house who lives only a mile or so from the west side of the lake. I found the seeing to usually be quite good out there. I need to finish my M33.

The sky can be nice at times, and I've had some decent success's out here, but the marine air off the sound can be thick at times(I don't mean fog either).

I wish you clear skies!! Oh? does that seem like a self serving statement

Well Robert thank you for the clear sky wish!
It was clear long enough for me to collect enough HA and RGB data:)
Here is the semi-final product collected from Yakima and Lake Goodwin.

That looks Great Andy!!

I never set up last night.. I went out and looked at the sky a few times and it did look pretty nice between the few clouds I saw. I left my Atlas in Winthrop so I don't have to transport it next time I head over. I found a reflection in my AT65EDQ... again. This time, it looks like the tip of the Moonlite draw tube. Gotta dig out the flat black paint.. again. I shot some 10 minute subs of the Rosette when I was in Winthrop with my QHY8 and discovered the reflection then. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper

Help

I have a new (to me) APO and a pair of Fuji 10X50 FMT-SX (the holy grail of 10X50's for astro use) and I have not been able to use them. I did get first light on the Raptor in my LP driveway. But that was it!!!
