Just completed this sketch of NGC 7510. Done with an 8" Dob, Meade 8.8 ultrawide field eyepiece, graphite sketch then "negative" reversed. Tried to get some indication of unresolved stars using a blending stump. Very beautiful open cluster.

Thanks Peter and Alex. There are so many beautiful open clusters in Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Of course as these constellations rise higher in the sky earlier, I feel the summer passing away and autumn right around the corner. This always makes me a little sad and of course here in the northeast it will get too cold to observe and too cold to hold a pencil or charcoal for sketching.

Very nice Randolph!
I always enjoy observing open clusters and many of us know how painstaking they can be to sketch as there is always a lot going on in the EP.

Nice sketch indeed.

Thank you Tomas and Wade...The open clusters of Cepheus and Cassiopeia include many under appreciated gems worthy of attention.

Great sketch Randolph! It really gives you back that feeling when you stand next to your telescope, and looking at something special. Sketchers often forget to add the unresolved stars - most observers I think doesn't even notice the faint glowing.

But I think it's never too cold to observe and sketch. When it's freezing cold, I use thin but warm winter cycling gloves with long fingers. They are warm enough and I can still hold the pencils. I've also noticed, that it really makes you feel comfortable during the Winter, if you sit on an observing chair and you have some small stool to put your feet on.

Thank you so much Ferenc. I've never thought of using cycling gloves...
But one of the problems I have in the cold is that my eyes water like a small river. And of course who wants to get salt water all over beautifully clean lenses?
