Planning on a daytime Lunar X Oct. 11

Around 3 PM for me in the central time zone, U.S.

I'll be showing my students right after school gets out.

I've done a few Daytime Lunar Xs and find that as long as the Moon is >30 degrees Alt they're easy to see. As you are doing it with a group, have you considered using a video camera ported to a monitor?

That's exactly what I'm doing. Dob on EQ platform with digital EP sending image to portable TV. I haven't decided if I'm using my 10"/4.5" outreach rig (pictured) or my main 12" scope.

There you go!

On Halloween I've used a dob with a video feed like this. Makes it easy to just tap-tap-tap with my foot while the kids look through the main scope. (noticing you have a good size finder)

Anyway, all you need is a cardboard box around the monitor as that helps avoid washing out the screen in daylight.

Thank you very much for that reminder about the glare shield! I'd forgotten that. I always rig up a glare-killing enclosure when doing solar viewing with my students. This will be a similar need.
