The desk looks great! The television program, not so much. Are you getting the television program from last century?

Steve Thanks for your continued replies. I prefer "Gunsmoke" yet Bonanza was on ,at the time, in cable reruns of course, Me TV Channel.
That is not the TV I have plans for the OBS either.

Okay,So I was finally able to finish putting up the garage door rubber sealing for the gaps in the skirting.
There is still some small openings in the corners and will take care of them some other way.
This first pic shows where I intend to place the sealing strip on the top of the wall.

This next pic shows where I placed one of the strips on the top of the wall and after having some left over, decided to add an additional strip that is attached to the skirting and overlaps the first strip for double protection.
I kind of like this idea since the first installed strip has a couple of places that had very small gaps/openings to where you could see light penetrating, yet only no see um bugs could have gotten thru.

This third image shows a little better what I am talking about, with the overlapping strips.

This image shows the east end of the OBS opposite of the direction the roof rolls off.
The gap that was here is now sealed with the same garage door seal.
I had opened and closed the roof several times to be sure it would seal each time and not bind.
The rope you see in this image,is only up when closing the roof.
It will never interfere with the view or while imaging.

One more image. I will have more later on today of the days progress.
The desk is 48" from left to right,or right to left which ever you prefer and 24 "front to back. The drawer is 5 " deep and should handle anything I can fit in it.Sky charts, the sky atlas 2000 large laminated field charts, will fit nicely.

Dan,Thank you for the compliment. It is no way close to being like Asign Observatory II, yet it is mine. Didn't or don't have the funds as he had with the donations and all. That is a great build.

You won't get far comparing yours, or mine, or most people's observatories to that one! The Asign and the Orion Ranch are two extraordinary observatory builds I've been following and enjoying.

But I think what's interesting is the amazing variety of observatory styles and unique solutions to problems that you find across the range of posts in this forum. Everyone has their own set of capabilities, resources, and constraints to bring the picture and it doesn't make sense to compare one build to another. I love seeing them all from the simplest, tiny roll-away shed to the large and extravagant observatories that I'll never get close to!

-Dan

Dan,Thank You for putting everything into perspective.
You know,I almost do not want to be finished with my OBS build as I get the opportunity to correspond with so many great individuals on here.
I hope that more people continue to build their own Observatories and post their results and progress here.

Well, I was finally able to get a coat of color on the interior walls today.
When first applying ,I was not sure if I would like it or not.
I am still undecided yet at least the walls are covered. Two coats would be nice although the one will have to do 'til Spring.
There were a few spots where the OSB pealed slightly yet all in all it held up well to the paint.
I chose the darkest, deepest Blue that Menards had to offer in an exterior finish.
Here is the first of 2 pic's,you decide,Stick with this color or go for something different, a possible color change come springtime.

I personally like the first color, the deep blue, but that is also what I am using, albeit not quite as deep. I like your color better.

The desk is gorgeous! (thanks, I always feel a little guilty with my picture requests).

Steve ,As always,Thanks for your reply.
I have absolutely no problem with posting photo requests.

The laminate I used for the desk, was leftover from when I remodeled the kitchen for my wife 4 years ago right after she gave me the okay to build my woodworking shop.

I got a shop,she got a new kitchen.
Took about 3 weeks to build and finish the new kitchen cabinets including a full height pantry and extra deep upper cabinets..

Yeah,me thinks the color will stay as is,called Coal Blue.
I kind of like the texture that the OSB plywood brings to the look.

I am considering painting the ceiling a different color, maybe a medium to light Tan for when I am in the OBS with the roof in the closed position.
This will help with the lighting during those periods.

Tim, great job on the desk! I also really like the dark blue color, and as you mentioned the texture showing thru is nice!

One thing about our observatories; there will always be nicer ones than ours, and some not as nice as ours. Really doesn't matter, because ours is our place of joy to enjoy the night skies, and we are all kindred spirits here, with our observatories, no matter how expansive, or how bare bones they may be!

I am thinking that it may be time for installing the carpet,as I am pretty much done with making saw dust in there.
It will not be easy installing the Level Loop piled Carpet over the pier though.
That style of carpeting is quite stiff stuff.
Think I might give it a shot tomorrow.
Vinyl does have to go in first at the entry way though.
I have a good sized roll of vinyl I have been waiting to use somewhere and the doorway is a good place for part of it.
