Okay, I finally got a photo of Gamma Cygni last night that I am not embarrassed by. If only the scan wasn't so noisy .
Exposure: 40min. at f/5.9
Film: Hypered Tech Pan (72 hrs)
Gamma Cygni Region

Noah, glad to see you have solved the problems with uneven fogging. Have you tried to scan the frame several times and stack the scans together to reduce the noise? Of course, using a better scanner or a digital camera would be better.

I actually have two frames from Saturday night of this object, but when I tried to stack them in Registax they wouldn't align properly; I am probably doing something wrong. I've never thought about scanning the same frame multiple times; maybe I'll have to try that.

I just realized that Registax is for planetary imaging, so I downloaded Deep Sky Stacker, and have no clue how to use it. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

1. Open picture files
2. Check all
3. Register checked pictures - in the appeared dialog box uncheck "automatic detection of hot pixels" and tell the program to stack 100% of checked pictures.
4. Save picture to file.

If you encounter a problem, let me know.

Hi Michal,
I just tried this, but DSS tells me that "The checked pictures are not compatibles (width, height, number of colors, number of channels, only one master dark, offset and flat)."
Thanks.

That's easy - the frames probably don't have the same width and height. You have to crop them manually to the same dimensions in some photo editing software.
