ETX-60 with bronze eypiece holder
      #6114465 - 10/03/13 01:45 AM

I got an used etx60 a while back and was planning to replace the objective with one from a broken etx70 I got off craigslist. The 60 has a bronze eyepiece holder rather than the usual black 'stalk'. Can anyone tell me if this is a common feature or is it something I should keep in stock condition. I don't want to devalue the scope if it's an unique model. Any info will be helpful. Got a small case of aperature fever. 10mm worth.

Sunlight will make black anodized alluminum look like bronze.

I think you nailed it. I looked closely at the eyepiece and holder and both display some mottled black colors. I just thought they needed cleaning. The give away was that the inside of the eyepiece holder was black. Funny that I never noticed before. The color was so even that the guy I bought it from must have kept it on a motorized lazy susan in front of the sun. I was hoping I had something collectable ..... but.

Thanks for the answer

Larry
