If you are asking if it could be a meteorite; there's a great forum here, called Space Rocks that might be a better choice for getting answers about the rocks you have questions about.

This is our meteorite forum, and there's some very knowledgable members concerning meteorites that can help you.

I went looking in the same area, and i found 3 others similar looking rocks, although with sharper edges and alittle different rust brown. What fools me is how at least this one look heated or melted. 1 of todays samples seems to have small quartz like crystals in outer layers. All are magnetic but not very much.

Since i am unexperienced in both terrestial rocks and meteorites, it`s hard make any guesswork at first sights. What i dont understand is why are the brown rocks full of rust, when the schist(those who respond to a magnet at least) have no rust at all on em, it must after all be the same iron and the same rain falling on em?

this is same side but different angle as picture below. I tried a scratch test when i found it last year, so i choosed that spot for window test.

I don`t know new [Re: Thorkill]
      #6136617 - 10/14/13 10:41 AM Attachment (12 downloads)

Ok now this got really weird, and i must admit this is starting to cloud my mind. Anyways, yesterday i went for a tour de dog, and i went to find site. I found a heavy rusty iron thing, it looks made. This new piece is highly magnetic, and slightly bigger than the initial found.

I dont know. My lack of knowledge is very limiting here and perhaps my imagination is biasing the whole picture.

Here's a Link that may be of interest. Especially the "Streak" test; give this a try.

Thank you, this brought out some interesting results. Streak test: All of the control samples are clearly magnetite, a black/grey streak behind. The initial topic stone left nothing, but it scratched the bottom of cup. The new found iron piece, left a very weak streak of grey.

I have made a better window into topic stone. First i must say the stone was really hard to file a window into. Also it smells like gunpowder when working on it. I also noticed how smooth the surface area is after filed it, aswell as shiny flakes visible beneath.

I am not that much wiser, but a neighbour said the mountain behind here where bombed during WWII, and in the early 70`s Norwegian Army detonated some of the WWII bombs wich was found still armed.

I sent picture of the initial topic stone to a museum where the guy immediatly said it was burned schist, wich makes sense if the stone been close to detonatin place. I aint saying it is burned schist, but is is clearly burned, and it smells like burned gunpowder or New years eve firecrackers.

The bigger iron piece is now polished much smoother on bottom surface. I want to try the acid test on it sometimes, but i dont know when. And i dont know how, so it wont be done in the near future i guess. The ironpiece smells almost exactly like the topic stone.

Think i must finish with say thanks to all who looked and read this thread. And sorry for me speaking so much, and so many dumb/wrong questions and thoughts.

Thanks
