New Lowrider Variant?
      #6129841 - 10/10/13 08:45 PM

http://www.cloudynights.com/classifieds/data/10/70386-1381158548DSC_0040-larg...

I am confused when I look at this scope. The rule used to be 30 degrees for baffling on a lowrider. Any steeper angle and the baffle becomes way to large. What am I missing here. This is more like a 60 bend.... I have "toyed" witht the concept of a baffle in the light path halfway between the secondary and the ID of the cage, but I dont see that going on here....

Looks to me like a very large secondary and designed with sufficient backfocus to permit the use of a 45 degree diagonal at the eyepiece. I'm not seeing any baffles other than what may be at the focuser itself. Neat scope!

The only problem is optically it doesn't work. You would get crushed by all of the stray light coming in around the secondary.

Did you ever consider a astatic support for your cell?

no but I am ecstatic that I will get to work on the sling design you helped so much with this weekend.... LOL...

Danny your a solids wiz, can you see what the cone would look like from a 2" focuser on lets say a 50 degree lowrider 36 inch..... It would I think be easy in solids...... If I could baffle it in the light path, might be doable. Would be near impossible to do in 2 D...

An adjustable iris could baffle it properly just past the focuser. Hard to baffle it anywhere else with that kind of angle. I like the looks of the scope - nobody will be kicking sand in it's face.

Best,
Mark

I was not very clear in my earlier post, but the use of a 45 degree diagonal to straighten out the viewing angle would serve to some degree as a focuser baffle.

challenge is at F3.6 you will be clipping with a typical focuser/diagonal combo a 3" focuser and you wont get baffling... for this scope you would want as wide as you can get so an Iris wouldnt work well with the large field stops...

hows a 66" height off the front surface? LOL

I think its a 1-1/2" scale on a c size sheet.
