Some photos from Int'l Observe Moon Night
      #6134750 - 10/13/13 10:58 AM

I have taken to labeling my lunar shots, as I have a number of friends on Facebook who have repeatedly said that they enjoy my photos much better as a result. It provides some much-needed context, and the viewer can get some idea of scale and size from them that way. Here is my wide-angle photo of the Moon from last night.

Incidentally, all of these were taken through my 10" Orion Dob using an equatorial platform drive. Camera was my cell phone, hand-held at the eyepiece. This shot was, I believe, taken through a 32mm Plossl, while the others were taken through an Orion Expanse 6mm eyepiece.

And here's a link to the album of photos, for anyone interested in getting a bit larger view of them.

Thanks - I know these pale in comparison to some of the photos others in this forum are able to capture, but I know my pictures are slowly getting a bit better. I hope to continue getting even better ones in the future.

Lunar detail is a wonderful thing to observe, and I hope to inspire others to be looking at the sky even with humble telescopes by posting these kinds of photos for my friends on social media.

Great shots for a cell phone! Another +1 for the annotations. That Apollo 15 site has inspired me to take a closer look at this area.

Thanks everyone - what is so frustrating is that I can see much clearer detail even on my phone held up to the eyepiece 19 times out of 20. But it seems like only 1 out of every 20 shots or so is is clear as I see it on the screen.

I really need to get my 2" adapter for my Canon T3!! Should be arriving this week, I hope!

Very nicely done. I also like the annotations.
