Howdy folks,
Just thought I'd share my latest attempt. I tried to process with with a synthetic luminance, not sure if I did it correctly but seems to have helped some. I took 9 x 300s each of R,G and B binned at 1x1. All processing was done with PixInsight and basically involved standard calibration, RGB combibe, neutralizing the background, extract the luminance, histogram stretch the RGB and luminance, blend the luminance with the RGB and then just a dash of ACDNR. In retrospect I should have chosen a different framing by putting 52 Cygni closer to the top of the frame and then I could have pulled in more of the fainter bits near the bottom. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Very nice Phil.

It has a lot of texture and depth.

Looks like however you created and combined the luminance layer it contributed to a fantastic looking Witch's Broom.

Darren

One of my favourites. Do you notice the amount of stars on one side versus the other? The veil looks as though it's serving as a barrier. Great image and I like your processing Phil.

Nice colors and very smooth. I think your process worked quite well

Phil that it a great image! You have a lot of the very faint stuff in there and it's well balanced overall as I've seen. Congrat's!

PS - are you going to put in more time on this?

Thanks for the comments everyone. Jim, I do plan eventually to put more time on it, but I'll probably re-frame it. I would love to do do mosaic of the entire region. Perhaps that would be a nice summer project.

Sweet image. It goes quite deep, colors in both the nebula and the stars are great and the brightness of the bright star next to the nebula is kept under control remarkably well. An excellent result!

Wouter.
