Jupiter Oct.13th from Az. new
      #6135440 - 10/13/13 05:23 PM Attachment (52 downloads)

Was hoping for better seeing but made the best out of what turned out to be just fair seeing. As seems to be the case IR saves the day showing better detail specially around the GRS. Thanks for looking.

Nice image Frank! I like the IR....do you use it at all in the RGB image and if so, how?

Steve

A very nice image Frank, especially for the seeing we've had lately.

That's still a nice image Frank!

As you imply, thank goodness for iR filters!

Btw, what iR is this...685 or 742? Having recently purchased the 685nM after using the 742nM for so long I really like the extra light (hence lower gain & smoother frames) of the 685nM on Jupiter.

Thank you Roberto,Thank you Steve,no I didn't use the IR in the RGB,I know some do use it and use WinJupos to combine it in the RGB derotate tool.Thank you Darryl,I used the IR 742nm,sounds like the 685nm might be in my future use.I do like the idea of more light transfer.

Thank you Glenn! Thank you Paul! We know that good seeing will eventually find us we just hope we are imaging when it happens!

Still creditable results Frank and certainly worth the effort. If there had been an impact that left a scar you would certainly have recorded it. Also, if amateurs around the world image regularly, even in less than great seeing, it helps to constrain the time line of an impact event that leaves a scar someone else may catch on the next rotation.

Regards
Trevor

Thank you Chris! Thanks Trevor,I guess it's always in the back of our minds while imaging if we might witness either a strike or an impact scar like Bird imaged.
