Does anyone have or had a Telegizmo cover similar to this one http://www.optcorp.com/telegizmos-solar-cover-for-14inch-sct-on-a-german-equa... ? I was thinking of using it to cover my scope and mount when the forecast calls for a few clear nights or mornings in a row. Any opinions on this item?

I use the same Telegizmos cover (only made for my dob) for week long star parties and it does a great job.

I have 2 of the TG-G2s and 2 of the T3-G2 365 covers as well. They work very well to protect your scope and mount form the elements. I use mine 150+ days a year and they are still holding up after 3 years of use. They help here in the So Cal deserts to keep the heat (115º+) from damaging your scope/mount. I don't have any cold weather (30º or below) or rain experience with them though.

My telegizmo cover has been in the back yard about 4 months straight now. I bring the scope in out of concern for theft but it covers my mount/tripod the rest of the time. I have to say I'm more than pleased with it's performance!!

Be sure to get the Telegizmos 365 cover, not the regular Telegizmos cover.

I've had my 365 for a year now and it provides flawless, year round protection for my g11.I live in a very humid, wet (summer) enviroment here in sw fl and could'nt be happier. I've had the c11 outside for up to 5 months in a row under that cover again without issue.

Hi James

Telegizmos makes two types of covers a lower cost 'solar cover' like the one you referenced which is great for overnight or over a few days and they make a '365' cover which is heavier duty and is good for 24/7 over the full year. I have owned both. I had a 365 for my 11" fork CPC but when I got a wedge it no longer fit. I sold it and bought a second Telegizmo cover but I opted for a very large Dob cover, however I got another solar cover. Why? mostly because I wanted to save $100. So my CPC1100 has sat outside since March. Through wind, rain, sun and both high (over 90F and low freezing) temperatures. I am happy with my double cover solution. It works fine and cost less than a single very large 365 cover. HOWEVER, i probably will not leave the scope out after thanksgiving, because I just do not trust the new england winters and frankly, even if I had a 365 cover, I probably would not leave the scope out. For what you are considering, a few days or a week, a normal telegizmo cover would work just fine.

Al

Thanks for all the insight and advice. I'm thinking the 365 cover is the best option. What is the biggest size they make for an EQ mounted scope? I would be using a C8 but a C11 might be in my future and possibly with a guide scope mounted on top.

I use the T3G2 365 covers. They are made for a 12" to 14" SCT on an EQ mount. They fit over my SCTs and my long refractors as well and cover to within 1' of the ground on my CG-5s.

They make custom sized ones, you just have to ask. I know, because I did ask and ordered one.

Indeed they do, and they are extremely nice to work with.

I've got two (365 version) Telegizmo covers. One is a 'Dob style' that permanently covers my permanent pier/G11 assembly. Then a 2nd '14 inch SCT' format cover where, on those RARE occasions with no moon and no clouds, my C11 will live for a week or so.

This is a very good product and it is astounding how effectively it avoids solar heat build up.

I have a smaller telegizmos cover for a refractor on a GEM. I've used it for about 8 years now, although never continuously outside. I can't say enough good things about the cover or the company.

Yes, they are very nice to work with. And they can deal with unusual requests well, which in this day and age, is very refreshing.
