Anybody have JC penny mount parts
      #6148704 - 10/20/13 04:46 PM

Hi All I bought a pretty complete little Blue 60mm JC Penny Refractor in the box with accys but is missing one part between the AZ adj and tripod..
If I cant find one, I'll probably be forced to part it out..
which is too bad because the lens is perfect and it still has the box.
Larry

I will get pics, it is not at home, I only paid $25.00 for it at a Flea Market, there was som Mildew on one part of the origonal box, but it repaired pretty easily and looks pretty good. It has a darn good lens Saturn was surprisingly good tho small, has a Vixen 6mm .96 lens and an Ortho 25mm .96, and a .96 Variable camera adapter, that are worth what I paid.
The lens is coated and spotless, has a Solar Projection screen and mount. The tripod is wooden and pretty nice, I love the Aqua Blue color, was giving it to my 10 yr old Daughter..
Thanks Tara.
I just love it here in the Classics section.. none of the If its not a Celestron, or 5K Tak it isn't anything...
just friendly helpful folks, what a nice change of pace..

On another note is there a way to convert a VCR tape to MP4?
I have a Tape live of Clyde Tombaugh I was at in the late 80's in Iowa.. I'd like to share, I could make VHS copys if someone has the way of duplicating it for others..
I am Disabled, don't drive and live in a tiny Town 80 miles from anywhere..

Those aqua blue JCP scopes remind me of the Sears scopes of the same color.

Yes, you can convert VHS to DVD easily. It only costs money (not a lot) and time (you can watch television while doing it ). Once you have it in a digital format, it is easily converted to whatever other digital format you might wish.

You can search "convert VHS to DVD" for many options.

Your tape sounds like one that would be very highly appreciated here!!!

Hi Larry, yup, this is the best group on CN.

To answer your next question, you need this:

http://www.diamondmm.com/vc500-diamond-one-touch-video-capture-edit-stream.html

Hook up the RCA inputs to your VCR and the USB2 connector to your computer after loading the drivers. You can digitize your video and save it as an AVI or MPeg. Use your computer to convert it to other formats.

I tried to post this last night but the site suddenly wouldn't let me in.

If you do decide to let it go, get ahold of me first. I've got a complete Penncrest 60mm EQ in wooden case, and would be interested in your alt az even if missing a part.

OK will do, but it is so complete.. There was a post about parting classics.. but sometimes you can fix 10 scopes with 1

That's the way I look at part-outs. Sort of like organ donation for fine old scopes.
