Orange tube C90 on a Unitron spotting scope mount new
      #6145956 - 10/19/13 01:05 AM

There is a bit of debate about the C90 being a classic scope, but I love mine as a grab and go. The C90 base has a 1/4 20 UNC thread screw attachment which allows for mounting to just about any light weight tripod. Which is exactly how I have been using mine on hiking and surfing trips.

Currently I use a Bogen Manfrotto which has adjustable clamps on three axes and is light to boot.

The only problem is there are no SlowMo controls and so keeping objects in view at high magnifications is a bit challenging. Happily I was able to get a broken Unitron spotting scope off ebay recently - I got it to use as spares (springs and push rods in the altaz mount etc) but noticed that it had a UNC fitting as well. Even better, it makes an exact fit with my Unitron 760 tripod.

Very nice Unitron mount you have. Its a perfect match for the C90.
I love my C90 too. I particularly like to use it as a long range microscope in the garden and chasing artificial stuff orbiting our planet.

Isn't it unbelievable, and the Space Surveillance Network keeps track of every last piece of it.

Thanks John, this was the tripod Dad used for a while with the 114 you sent me before I found the equatorial mount for him. He is back in Brisbane in a few weeks - just in time for ISON.

Clear skies

Jon
