Good idea Justin. Another option would be to add felt pads to the feet. You could cut them off a sheet of stick-on felt from the craft store. They have both green and black. Punch drill holes in the felt with a hole puncher before you remove the paper backing from the sticky side.

Justin,

I did basically the same repair only on a much more extensive level. My wife accidently knocked over my Meade 826 when I hade it standing up in a corner of a wall and dresser. The focuser area of the OTA was severely cracked. I Cut up a bucket and sandwiched the OTA on both sides with the bucket pieces. You can see in the picture that it did not turn out half bad and served for a solid repair right up until I sold off the pieces this year.
