HGM Titan adjustable preload?
      #6149154 - 10/21/13 12:34 AM

The product description for the Losmandy HGM Titan says the worm has an "adjustable preload". Is this a new feature? Does it mean spring loaded preload? I can't find anything more about it. I assume it is different than the adjustment I can make on my G11 OPWB for which the "adjustable preload" is not claimed.

Anyone know more about this?

Thanks,

Gale

Hello Gale
There is an adjustable pressure plate on one side of the worm block to preload the bearings against the worm.

Hi Scott,

So this is different than the adjustment on my G-11 OPWB whose purpose is to adjust the worm mesh before tightening the 2 screws holding the worm block in place.

Thanks,

Gale

Hello Gale
The worm block is one piece. So we need a way preload the bearings a different way.

Gale,

I think you are talking to the Mr. Scott Losmandy. It is nice to see the person in charge on this forum.

Thanks, Bill

Yes, I think so too. Hope we hear more from Scott in CN.

I'm using the string and weight method on my G-11 to preload the RA worm, made a big difference, getting better results at 1000mm than I used to get with 300mm (unguided, no PEC). Glad to see the Titan has the preload built in.

Gale
