IC 410 and the Tadpoles in Color
      #6172477 - 11/02/13 07:37 PM

With data I gathered the other night, this now has 4 hours of Ha, and another 55 minutes of color data.

Link worked for me
WOW! Those tadpoles look electric! Very smooth, I can't see any noise at all in the full resolution!
Fantastic image

Very nice image - I use those 'headlights' on the tadpoles for judging and these look as good as can be hoped for

Great color and contrast! Everything is nice and smooth. What is your workflow for the noise reduction?

Thanks Shawn, Jim, and Brian. I was really pleased with how it came out.

Brian, I used the noise reduction in StarTools for the Luminosity (Ha) data, although I did back away from the defaults to get more detail. I used tgvDenoise in PixInsight for doing the noise reduction on the color data.

PixInsight, StarTools, and Photoshop were used in the overall processing.

This your best image so far I really like it! Noise free and doesnt show any smoothing artefacts and it is very pretty too!

Thanks Wouter and Hilmi.

Hilmi, I'm much happier with the data I'm getting from my AT8RC compared to the C8. And on top of that, I have finally figured out some things processing wise that are helping too.

I like it. Are you shooting (pun intended) for "Most Prolific Poster"?

Hehe.

With the amount of money I have dumped into this hobby this past year, I better be using the equipment.

Fortunately, I'm really enjoying it.

Your investment has just paid you a dividend.

I noticed that RC has changed your target choices. Not that I don't like galaxies, but it is good to see your skills and talents applied to other targets.

Thanks Jeff.

As for target choices, it is more about weather and phase of the Moon than any change because of the RC. I love galaxies, but they require dark skies. Ha I can shoot any time. Part of why the Tadpoles and the Rosette just got put out in color is that with the Moon down, I was finally able to get the RGB data I needed for them. Fortunately, I didn't need a lot of time doing RGB for them.

That said, while I plan to work on a galaxy tonight (the Mini-Sombrero in Pegasus) I also plan on working on Messier 78 in Orion. Since it is a reflection nebula, I need good Moonless skies for it as well. Messier 78 happens to be a favorite of mine visually.
