It could still be an honest oversight or non-malicious ineptness on the seller's part, although as time goes by that's looking less likely. I'm sure I'll get my money back if I open a case- both he and I have verified PayPal status- but I did want that little old telescope. We'll see what happens.

Well folks, it was fraud. The seller emailed me and claims he hasn't listed on eBay in quite some time. His ID has been highjacked. I've opened a case with eBay and asked for a full refund.

BTW, the scope was the little green Polish Maksutov. If you see it show-up again, beware.

Thats a bummer, i was watching that at one point, no one bid on it and it ended, then the next day was relisted, had a starting bid of $225, cant recall if it had a buy it now.
I thought i seen one of those for sale on astromart a year or so ago.

Unitron 152 on ebay sold new [Re: starman876]

Sold for $3400. Just changing the advertisement location can bring dramatic results.

I was watching that one too, and the previous ads as well. I've only seen ~3 for sale in twice as many or more years. I would never have guessed it was a fraud. Wow. One sold on Ebay UK a month or so ago. Different images, though. Hopefully not a fraud too?

What a shame on many levels, including the loss of a unique little scope.

I do not know if it is a cave mirror. Maybe someone else can. Nice price. Wish I had the room.

We saw this one already. Remember the horrible "English"? From the markings on the mirror, it looks like a Cave to me.

I owned one of those little green PZO Maks for a few years. I watched the auction closely as I expected someone to ask a question about its Zeiss origins. The optics and OTA build on the PZO were amazing....everything else was a real challenge. The output from the rear of the scope was I think about 19mm. The diagonal the same. The eyepieces were something like 15mm barrels with about 3mm eye relief and a fov of view to match. The mount had enough non adjustable slop that you could not keep anything in the field of view. It was a waste of really great optics that I sold to an ATM for I think $70.

I'm going to be a lot more careful from now on, thought I did my homework this time. I've purchased a classic scope on eBay once before and that transaction went perfectly. 60mm f/16 Penncrest equatorial, in factory wooden box, complete with all accessories and printed owner's manual.

Always use PayPal and make sure the deal is eligible for Buyer Protection. It's all that saved me from losing my money this time.

I think it will help to take communications to a personal level with phone calls, home address, etc. whatever it takes to make them accountable. Again, sorry.
