I just purchased a DMK51AU02.AS today and I just hooked it up in my living room without putting it on my scope or anything, cap still on and I have this white dot that won't go away unless I adjust my gain below 650 and my gamma also has to be fairly low to make it disappear. I'm guessing this is a stuck pixel? Have any of you experienced this problem with an Imaging Source Camera or a CCD in general? And is there a solution to unstick it?
No problem. Just apply dark frame calibration. I've never seen a CCD / CMOS camera that doesn't have some sort of hot pixel issue when used for longer exposures though both of my IS cameras "get away" without calibration when the exposures are short as typically used for imaging planets etc.

No. You make a dark frame by shooting with the same settings as your imaging run but with the scope capped. The calibration is then done in processing.
I strongly reccomend that people who want to image "properly" obtain a copy of The Handbook of Astronomical Image Processing and take the trouble to understand (at least) chapter 6 which is dedicated to image caibration.
Good news, good news, good news. The stuck pixel went away. I'm in my backyard as I type this message up at 3:25 am. shooting Jupiter. I just bought a used Olivion filter wheel for $20 today, but no filters yet. I hear good things about the Astronomics set of RGBL.
