Celestron StarSense Accessory--- ?????
      #6199603 - 11/17/13 10:04 AM

Has anyone ever used this item. Does it work well? It is suppose to align your scope without you doing anything if I am reading correctly. I just wanted some feedback before I spent the money for one.

The "Mounts" group has a long thread on this device.

I give it a thumbs up. It's fast and accurate. After a one-time setup, and without knowledge of any alignment stars, auto align gives 5-10 arc sec RMS error; auto 2 star align with the Alt Az Align smartphone app of Simon Hunter gives 4 arc sec error; if you do the full 10 star calibration, then down to 2 arcsec error. This is gold for me because I do video projection on a TV on my CPC925 in alt az mode. Using it a week, I find it very easy.
Advantages in suburban skies is that it sees through haze and thin clouds and definitely knows where it is even when I can't see a thing. Add video imaging to that and I have a great time!
There are still some bugs to be worked out (see my post today).
Good luck, Doug Murphy
