There's a live all-sky cam in HK and it's difficult to tell the difference between day and night.

Ever been to Tokyo? About the same situaion there...except that from the top of the Tokyo Tower the masses of lights can be seen to extend to the very horizon in every direct except out to sea over Tokyo Bay! It was perhaps the most spectacular, yet depressing, thing I've ever seen as an astronomer.

I heard there was a movement to stop that Show of Lights or whatever it is that they do every night. Whatever happened to that?

I used to live in Hong Kong. It was NEVER dark there, even during a typhoon.
