My first official "at the eyepiece" observation came last night...in horrid sky conditions. I was just motivated enough to do it anyway.

Prismacolor warm grey inks, Conté white, 8H pencil for guide lines. Grey paper.

Seeing: Antoniadi-IV
Light undulating cloud cover

One aspect of lunar observing I find amazing is how people know where they're looking, names of craters, and such. I get lost.

Whats striking about your sketch is the same form of detail I saw last night. The brighter streaks running along the rim wall are beautiful. Striking. And you not only captured it in horrid conditions, but reprenented it very well.

You pulled off a really nice sketch, Jason, as your practice runs suggested you would and despite a moon that won't sit still and behave like a photo. And she did not offer much of a terminator for you to explore, yet you got her to open up to reveal a catch on her limb.

In a way, its not unlike Jupiter exposing herself before my own eyes. Yoir sketching technique brings her to life. Well done. Like many other sketchers, your love of the subject is clear.

You did a really fine job with your first "real" lunar sketch! I hope this is number one of many more.

I found THIS map online, downloaded the img to my computer and play "Where's Waldo" until I find a match.

Yea, where's Waldo. Like, it takes a long time to find him, too.

Ok, good night from Asia.

This is a nice piece with very interesting irregularities well defined in the crater walls.

Interesting technique. I experimented with a similar one.
