With apologies:

Friends, Astronomers, CN’ers, lend me your ears;
I come to bury ISON, not to praise him.
The evil that comets do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with ISON. The noble Bortle
Hath told you ISON was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath ISON answer'd it.
Here, under leave of Bortle and the rest--
For Bortle is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak in ISON's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Bortle says he was ambitious;
And Bortle is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Astronomy vendors
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in ISON seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, ISON hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Bortle says he was ambitious;
And Bortle is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Internet
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Bortle says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Bortle spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with ISON,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

I think that is the most humble and inspiring writing I have read all morning.

Hats off, good sir!

I like it too though!

Yes. You'll have to excuse my transgressions, for it is the first time I am seeing that!

I would love to know the original author (although I do know some of it is sourced from Shakespeare! LOL)

Very fine use of 'find & replace with"!

when ever I root for a team or get my hopes up for a win I am like the kiss of death on that team. I've been cheering for this thing for a few months now. . . I base my prediction on no science what so ever, just my record. I hear a fat lady warming up for ISON.

See my killing streak still stands solid

Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth
Death come th soon or late.
And how can a comet die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods

Locked for moderators discussion. It seems like talking about real science has been suspended, jokes can be posted in the OTO. Let's give it a break.
