Just received my Skywatcher 100ed... new

And there is a fleck of either white paint or metal, dead center on the inside of the objective. So, should I send this back to OPT, not worry about it, or somehow try to remove it? I really hate to bother sending it back over something like this, but it's going to bug the heck out of me. I'm not sure what I could do to dislodge it from the inside without removing the objective. I already tried a rocket blower bulb and that didn't work.

Just unscrew the objective and it should just blow right off.

Well, nevermind. Just checked again and it's gone. Gotta love gravity sometimes...

Congrats! When you first picked it up, did you feel the scope was very light? almost carbon fibre type.

Yea, the light weight shocked me. It feels lighter than the C102GT, which was even more surprising. The price on these Skywatcher ED's is just crazy good for what you get out of the package, especially with the sale going on right now. I'm hoping that Friday night will cooperate for first light.

Make sure you grab comet Lovejoy and ISON with it. I grabbed the ProED 100 display we had from our booth at ASAE this past Saturday and viewed both comets with it Sunday morning. Just in time to have it back on display the next day. Both comets were easily spotted in it using the supplied 20mm eyepiece.

Finally managed to get first light last night. Seeing was terrible, but wow am I going to love this telescope. I pushed it over 200x on Jupiter, and the image was very pleasing with lots of contrast and most importantly, no CA! I could make out 4 bands, and there was more color to the entire disk than what I could make out with the achro's I've used. I can only imagine what type of image this thing is going to put up in good seeing. Also, it only took about 40 minutes to completely cool down going from inside my house to 19 degrees outside. I think this is the last day of the sale, so anyone still on the fence about buying one, do yourself a favor and get it.

Congrats Dave!

A handle does make handling the lightweight but long tube easier. Here's my blue beauty.
