moon - resolution test with solar telescope
      #6226980 - 12/01/13 12:44 PM

Currently, I am in the sun watching break. The filters are removed and stored dry. The solar telescope is used to March as a night telescope. On 13.11.2013 the moon was observed under very poor atmospheric conditions. The aim was to detect the smallest possible contrasting structures under these poor conditions. Sure can demonstrate high-contrast structures around 1 km. Telescope diameter of 200 mm was used ( lyot stop installed). Please find attached the result with LRO comparison image.

These observations are exercises for the new 12 inch FH Unigraph. With this telescope, to be held regularly lunar observations.

Not sure what to say.... except that you have a greater resolution than all but maybe the top 1% of lunar imagers. What more is there to say?

Rick

Hi Rick,

thanks for your answers.

I want to express that I find it amazing , with a solar telescope with many individual lens (18 pieces), under very poor atmospheric conditions ,to obtain a resolution of 1 km.

Please excuse my poor English. It is a machine translation.

thanks, mhilscher

the many optical components did not appear to harm the resolution. Therefore, the new 12 inch instrument is the same optical arrangement obtained as the current 8.5 inch Unigraph.

thanks all,

tonight could be an observation of the moon with the solar telescope and the new SR 445M possible again. Perhaps, the resolution can be increased even more significantly.
