      #6293586 - 01/05/14 10:56 AM

Hi,

Here are some high resolution images of the moon taken a while ago (I had no time to process them). All of them are taken with an IDS 3370 camera, a C14, a red filter and a X2 Astrophysics Barlow lens.

First, Philolaus area :

Mare Imbrium :

Platon and the Alpine Valley :

Another Alpine Valley taken a little bit latter with more resolution, and longer shadows over Aristoteles and Eudoxus :

Cassini area :

Hadley area :

Curtius area :

Beautiful images!

Do you take requests? I would very much love to see a high res of Triesnecker Rille system!!!

This is one of my favorite "Test" areas for comparing telescope performance, but the images I have as reference ar not the best.

I hope this is not asking too much..

Thanks!!!

Thanks to all :-)

Mike : I don't remember if you use a field-derotator for you lunar images with the 18" Dob ?

Vasco de Gama :there are 600 frames selected out of the 6000 frames in the video.
The frame rate is 40 fps (25 ms exposure time).

Eddgie : I have some old images of the Triesnecker area with average seeing. Have a look here (in the lower half of the page):

Cheers

WOW!!! That resolution is too much. I think you're giving Hubble a run for its money here, Christian.

Hi Christian,

No I don't use a field de-rotater with the Starmaster dob but I think AS2! can fix a slight amount of distortion caused by rotation. Maybe a future version of AS2 will have a feature that can fix FR.

BTW thats a wonderful amount of frames to work with. I have to limit mine to around 3000.

cheers

Mike
