Takahashi FS60 short replacement tube ???
      #6317215 - 01/16/14 07:22 PM

One for the Tak FS60 experts et al: I am trying to locate a 105mm replacement tube for a TaK FS60, it was the stock part on the CSV OTA and was also available as an accessory for the longer FS60C/CB.

Also if anyone know the actual part number for the 105mm long tube ??

Many thanks in anticipation of a flood of replies ....

Matt in Australia

Hi Matt

This old thread has pictures that may be useful. I would think you could order it from AEC or Texas Nautical.

Hi Andy, Thanks for that link. I spoke to Claude but he wanted a part number so he could search for one ! I am hoping to get one so I can use my solar wedge via the Baader Clicklock etc.

Can't find the number for the 105mm but I think the part number for the 127mm tube is TSK 06211.

Thanks Andy, if all else fails I'll try to get the 127 and machine it to suit.

You might check to see if any of the Borg Parts might work.

Thanks, it is the Baader 2" Cool Ceramic Herschel Prism, I have the P version but mostly use the Solar Continuum + OD3.0 neutral density combination of the V version.
Although I can get focus as it is setup in the picture, I will change to the CSV tube and install an adapter between the focuser and the ClickLock visual back.

Speaking of reaching focus...
I have the FS-60C with the 145mm tube and tried the other night to use my Leica 20-60x Zoom (this is the 7.3-22mm 68 degree, not the ASPH) and did not have enough in-travel to reach focus using the Tak 1.25" prism diagonal. I have the APM 1.25" adapter on the front of this ep. I guess if I were to replace the 145mm tube with the 105mm unit, it would be enough so I could use the Leica. The focuser on the Tak looks to be about 55 or so mm in diameter. Does anyone know of an adapter (Clicklock?) I could use to shorten things somewhat and maybe not have to change the tube to use this ep?
Kind regards,
Mike

Hi m2K, I've been going through the various combinations and adapters and am even getting a Tak extn tube modified to get everything to fit.

I'll send you a PM with more info bit later on today, might save you some $$$ and headaches. Cheers, Matt

The standard CB tube is 127mm long and affords 151mm of back focus. The shorter CSV tube is 105mm long and affords 173mm of back focus.

My thanks still go to Art for arranging the CSV replacement tube and sending it so quickly........ UNFORTUNATELY for me the parcel is stuck in US Customs in Chicago for further inspection????? It has taken 8 days and still has not left the USofA ...... what gives ?????

Art sent it on the 23rd, it took 5 days to get to Chicago and is now "Held in Customs".
Is this normal in the land of the free???

The tube could be used to make a small mortar, might not ever get there:)

It's on the move again, hopefully Australian Customs don't hold it up as well.

Just to update the thread:

All is well, with thanks to Art at TNR (or L,S & S) in Texas, I now have a Takahashi FS60CSVQ refractor, soon to be with an FC76/FS60 Hybrid. These will be my travelling companions while the Mewlon 210 minds the fort at home.
The shorter tube has allowed the Baader ClickLock 2" visual adapter and the Baader Cool Ceramic Herschel Prism to come to focus with all my eyepieces.
