Nagler 12T2 eye relief?
      #6320559 - 01/18/14 01:38 PM

I have the N12T2 and like it a lot but the eye relief is a bit tight for me to get the entire FOV comfortably. I can't find a spec for its eye relief anywhere.
Does anyone know it? I am guessing it's 10mm but not sure.

Thx,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Don't know for sure, but would estimate it from memory to be around 1-2 mm longer than that of the 16 T5 which TeleVue lists as having 10mm eye relief. So that would make my guess for the eye relief of the 12 N T2 to be about 11-12 mm.

According to this CN article by our own Tom T., the ER is 12mm on all of the type 2 Naglers: link.

Hmmm ... I have a Nag 5mm T6 which has 12mm ER and my 12T2 just seems to be a bit tighter.

Eye relief is often measured from the midpoint of the eyelens to the focal plane of the exit pupil. Is it possible that the 12T2's eyelens is recessed a little more below the top of the eyepiece than your other eyepiece is, making the "effective eye relief" somewhat tighter?

Even thou the ER is not long the eyeplacement is one of the best!
Its so easy to look thru the T2s are fantastic for this one trait that gets overlooked
Also the WF views are wonderful in the 12T2

Have the same two Naglers and confirm your observation. But really close, maybe 11mm ER on the 12NT2.

Best,
