Robert, you need the third one - the old '50s "The Heavens" - to round your office out!

Both very awesome Nat Geo maps adorn my astronomy office wall!!!!

That's cool. (And I didn't know there was a Mars one!) I think what is really neat about these posters is that they look impressive from a distance and then you get all the details when you get close up.

And the Mars map (Nat. Geo. Feb 1973) uses the old names! It's too cool!

Robert - Great photo. What is the map that we can only partially see on the right edge of the picture?

My favorite is the original version of the Rand McNally Map of the Moon. The original (large) version has the title on the top left corner of the map. There is a smaller version with the name on the top right, but I do not like it as much.

One of the original versions is available on ebay now. It is my favorite lunar resource. It was produced in 1969, and is about 41x37." The auction ends on Jan 22 at 17:30 PST.

Wife is asking for a Christmas wish list and I'd really like a book on observing the moon. How-to's, interesting features, about the features, etc. Suggestions on a good (or the best) book?

Sorry for the untimely reply, just saw this thread. A good book would be....

"The Moon - an observing guide for backyard telescopes" by Michael Kitt (ISBN 0-913135-09-7)
Section 1 is on how to observe the moon.
