HELP - I'm addicted to reading the eyepiece forum new
      #6328486 - 01/22/14 02:09 PM

I only popped along to solve a dilemma/figure out my next move but now I'm on page 22 after reading every thread/reply and my head's about to explode . . . and there's another 1,094 pages to go.

There is such a wealth of knowledge on here . . . some brilliant advice . . . and so many options.

Wait till you discover that the eyepiece forum isn't the only one out there......especially the "classifieds"

There is also an archive of the eyepiece forum. Don't forget to read that too.

Oh now, play fair . . . classifieds . . . archives . . . that's not helping, that's just cruel!! inspired ideas though.

Don't have to take in all at once!
Keep reading when you get a chance here and there and eventually will get thru the CN book!

Do they have an award for going thru the entire CN Book?? Kinda like the Messier award?

The problem is the longer I leave it the more that gets added!

I really hope not, I don't need any more motivation!

I often find myself going through page after page of discussions about ES and TV about which is better and whatnot. This is a great forum!

The temporary cure is to go out and buy an EP then post a picture of it.

The XW Buddha responds:

O Nobly born, listen carefully: Often we observe in remote areas where there are wild beasts. If you have reached the beginning of wisdom, and have an XW40, and a barlow, and you are surrounded by a pack of wild snarling dogs, insert the XW40 into the Barlow, and beat them with it. For it is a great mass of metal and glass and will surely smite them.

But do not use this combination in your telescope.

Thank you ever so much for digging that wisdom from the depths of the archive. Very much appreciated relief!

That's precisely my problem - what eyepiece?! I've taken all of my astro equipment out of storage but my eyepiece case is missing. Lost. Gone completely. So for the foreseeable future I'm stuck with a 26mm Meade Super Plossl, a 28mm 2" Skywatcher 28mm LET eyepiece an 2x 2" ED Barlow which were in another case.

Yes--reading the Eye Piece forum will drive you nuts--and leave you broke.

Be very careful. If you become seriously, hopelessly addicted to a certain forum, one day they may make you serve as a moderator in that forum!

I must admit I missed out that one in my own quest to mine for more information in this forum. What a joy to reach Nirvana with the XW Buddha!

So am I.

But with the added complications that I love wide AFOVs, pinpoint stars, but I am also cheap as well as broke.

The XW Buddah is REAL. Just today he blessed me. Apparently, Denver has a US HQ for Pentax and they had some "old stock" they made available to local vendors. My scope shop was lucky enough to be one of those vendors. I'm the proud owner of the LAST NEW XW40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
