Supernova in M82 using Q
      #6337743 - 01/26/14 10:21 PM

If you can find and see the Cigar Galaxy M82 (in UMa) using your Questar 3.5, you will be able to see supernova SN2014j as a bright star in this fuzzy galaxy. Magnitude estimates are 10 to 11, so it is somewhat bright and really stands out in the cloud of fuzziness. I used a 16mm (~80x) for the best view tonight (before the clouds rolled in).

A polar-aligned fork mount is not the best for viewing between the zenith and Polaris, but it wasn't so awkward at about 7:30 to 8 PM, with M82 not too far up.

Has anyone else viewed this supernova using their Q? If so, please post your experience.
