This is a 99g Sikhote with the classic look of shrapnel. Still, you can see where some of the edges have started to melt and roll over.

Here's one that's still shrapnel, but it's rather bland compared to the 99 gram specimen. You can see some typical shrapnel features such as striations on one side, but the surface on the reverse side looks very much like the one that Lars has imaged. (23 grams)

And last but not least, one of my favorite regmaglypted Sikhotes. (32 grams)

Great info, very nice specimens.

I've taken another photo of the specimen in question. This time from the "bottom". It's a 25 grams.

Much better picture

Hi

Today I've been visiting a fellow collector to see he's large Muonionalusta meteorites. The largest one was cut in to some beautiful slices and jewelry, the later was stunning and not something I've ever seen before. The cutting was done high a high-pressure, high precision water jet cutter, that can cut 200 mm thick steel with a cutting width just below 1mm. It's amazing how smooth it can cut circles, complex 3D shapes etc.

To examine a complete +12 kg specimen and slices up to 2600 grams was really something.

To get back on track, here's the meteorite from my package. A nice Camel Donga, not a perfect fully crusted and shiny specimen, but nevertheless nice with all the feature's I wanted for a Camel Donga.

It's slightly attracted to magnet as expected. When holding it in the hand it doesn't feel like other meteorites, more like something made in plastic because it feels light and smooth. Don't worry it's not plastic I've checked the density, it's okay. Anyone else had that experience with Camel Donga's.

Next item.

Well, I guess most of you know the story about the Buddha statue and the mystery on how it came about.

There's also a sad story behind the meteorite involving the finder and the Russian revolution. Even a jump to the famous Hoba meteorite can be made from the story behind this fascinating meteorite.

In my opinion this meteorite has it all and then some. At the moment I'm compiling a writing about all of this and if it turns out right, I'll post it here on CN.

Without further introduction - Chinga

PS. I'm looking for a larger specimen, maybe an end-cut. Send a PM,

Your Chinga is beautiful, as is your photography. I like both the black glass and the map of the location found beneath the specimens. Very well done.

Chinga has some interesting stories that revolve around it.

Tana Tuva

Kinda silly question but what material is your cm cube made from? I started to get hooked on collecting those as a side bar to the meteorites but managed to curb myself after only a few.

The link makes me want more cubes. I have three: titanium, brushed brass, and carborundum polished rounded edges. Don't have a gold one but the link is very tempting...

BTW, here's my Chinga. Next to yours my photos stink.

I'd love to have a polished piece, the ataxites are gorgeous polished.

Sorry, cant stop, I'm addicted. Wonder if the something MAA (Meteorite Addicted Anonymous) that's meets once a week and have mentors that will stop me when the need to get just another specimen overpowers me.

Get ready for the next fix

What a nice big Chinga Paul, thanks for sharing. Please cut in half and get it polished

Rex does have the polished gold and the black ones.

I'm getting a polished gold and a polished silver. But don't want to pay shipping for each (and I don't need them) so I am waiting till March.

Here the next one from my package.

A "large bird" from the Tupi-Guaraní word Uruaçu, 187 grams.

I've cleaned it and removed a little rust and dirt. Maybe I'll do my first cutting with this one. Any advice, tips ?

Nice.

Uruacu and Campo are supposed to be pretty close in structure. Could it be the same meteorite but falling in 2 areas?

Haven't seen many individuals. Yours is nice looks like my Toluca.
