Help with fixing motor stall new
      #6322762 - 01/19/14 06:14 PM

Hi there,

I have an LX200 GPS 12", which I have had for about a year, after buying it on eBay. Something I noticed was that the motor kept stalling after 30 mins, and I initially thought it was me doing something wrong, or just an error that occasionally happened, however it keeps happening so I cant use the motor/goto system on it, which proves very difficult with a scope of this size. Does anyone know the reason for it stalling, and how to fix it?
If not I am going to get it serviced in a few month just after I move house.
Thanks

I've no direct experience of this but I have heard of inconsistent power supply or missing/stripped teeth on a gear cause the motors to stall.

Is this one axis of both? What is the temperature you are using the scope at? It is possible that you are hitting stiffened grease on the gears. Low outside temperatures will stiffen the grease as the scope cools. Some of the older machines really need to have their grease cleaned up and replaced.
