AR1967 February 1, 2014 new
      #6349171 - 02/01/14 01:12 PM Attachment (10 downloads)

Hello All,
I was able to get out to make my first white light sketch. I viewed AR1967 which is quite amazing to see. My observations and sketch was made with a 72mm refractor at 78X. I used HB pencil to sketch the grouping. Some thin clouds and 40 F seemed like summer. If you can get out and see this Monster.

Just how big is this complex in minutes?

Pete

Ken, this is fantastic! I really like how incredibly real this looks, even at immediate glance.

Thank you! I was going out of my mind when I saw Andre's sketch, and I swore it would have to be 1944. I didn't realize that AR's are renamed once they come around again. Good info, Ken.

Two things. First off, WOW to the weather! Yeah these temps are just incredible. Today just as nice, AFAIK. Too bad I was busy all day yesterday, and today looks like "cloud city". Fortunately I should have enough time to grab the white light filter some time this coming week.

Secondly, I agree that AR's this big are just way to fun, and hard to express in words. I just love every view from 1x, to my 8x40 binos all the way to high magnifications in the 10".

Very well done Ken. Great details. Seeing is always bad here, no chance to do a close up.

Andre

Thanks Tom and Andre,
I hope we get some clearing to see this big grouping again.
