Jupiter reruns... Yes the weather stinks that much new
      #6354499 - 02/03/14 10:24 PM Attachment (19 downloads)

Did these last November - December 2012. Yes its been such a *BLEEP* out show Ive decided to rehash a previously aired program.

The NEB back then was thicker and in this case I interpreted its details with a whimsical nature. The SEB was really crisp.

Then there's this one - seeing was poor - but I persevered with higher power of 303x till that tiny sub arc sec dot fondly referred to as The Monolith (2001 flick) came through . At that high a power it actually subtended some surface area aside from appearing point like. The moon just inside the limb was a fine progressive touch. I think it was Europa.

Ok rehash over.

Tons of details - you must have quite steady air.

Pete,

These are fantastic sketches of Jupiter.
I especially like the second one you struggled against poor seeing to get. Hat is off to you.

Frank

Pete,
Nice sketches. You captured some great detail. I am with you on the weather we are having a tough go. I got out last night at dusk and it was looking good checking the Moon and Jupiter. Within minutes it was solid clouds.

Partly why its such a shut out for me is that with Jupiter moving along the ecliptic it was a month layer this year than last and that much deeper into the garbage seeing trough,

Thanks for the compliments.

Pete

Pete,

Great sketches of Jupiter. I like looking at reruns. I think it's interesting to see the changes that the features have undergone.

The NEB and NTB were more prominent back then as your sketch shows. Last apparition the NTB had a definite orange tone. I see Oval BA close to the GRS in your second sketch. It was cool when Oval BA passed by the GRS. One can make a good comparison of these features when they pass close to each other. I wonder if the GRS will ever swallow up BA. In your second sketch I'm reminded that barges were seen on the NEBn not like the current apparition. I see a barge on the NEBn on the preceding limb in your sketch. I haven't seen a single barge this go around. But there has been some memorable views.

Dean
