Looks like a great tripod. Would you mind posting a pic with the mount attached?

Looks to be a great choice. I'd be thrilled to own one myself.

That is one massive mount. Looks like something out of Terminator.

That's what I thought when I first unpacked mine (well, not the Terminator part, but I don't have encoders ) Ahh, but in use it's a thing of grace & beauty...

That's one reason a wood tripod just wouldn't do.
(no offense to Berlebach)

I've got a Nova which I use with the same refractor on a DM6 mount. It's truly an amazing mount, I had it out last night and cannot believe how stable the Nova is; it'd be even better with a larger tripod as yours. Photos don't convey how 'beefy' the Nova is. It's certainly not delicate or light. I'd suggest getting a TQR (tripod quick release) when Charles makes another batch. It's as impressive as the Nova itself. Beautiful rig, congratulations.

Umm...I was about to remark how it's a shame the Avalon tripod appears it will interfere significantly with your OTA to reach zenith, but then I caught myself...

You realize that in the photos your scope is mounted backwards on the Nova Hitch?

Hmm, I saw that too. That tripod looks pretty awesome though with the Nova. I imagine a DM6 or T-Rex would be pretty sweet on there too.

Yeah. Was rushing out and just slapped everything together willy-nilly for a couple of quick shots. Notice the tripod is not fully opened and the folding shelf is not fully up either and finder scope is not attached.

It's a gorgeous setup nevertheless... looking forward to the follow-on after you've had a chance to get it under the stars!

Thanks Astrophile.
I have taken my setup out a couple of times. Once when the seeing was good, the views were breathtaking for that short period.
Although in general I love hardware, I don't like to think about equipment when I'm under the skies. I'd like to wait for an expended period before writing up a review of the whole kit and kaboodle. That way, the newness will have worn off and I can be more objective.

What about you? Are you going to do a review on your Nova and scope?

You're right, I should do a more formal review than my original writeup in the forums...I'd like to see if I can get the tracking system installed first, that would make for a complete system to assess.
