Posidonius on the Terminator
      #6423188 - 03/22/14 05:36 PM Attachment (15 downloads)

I made an observation of the crater Posidonius on March 21, 2014 (06:15 U.T) using my 9-inch (23-cm) F/13.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain (258x and 310x) under average seeing conditions (5-6/10) when it was located on the terminator. I was able to detect an impressive amount of detail over the crater floor, walls, and surrounding region when the seeing steadied for moments at a time. The detail was difficult to render but I believe that I captured what I observed as faithfully as possible. I welcome any comments on my observation. The best of luck in your own observations.

Regards,
Carlos

Hello Carlos,

That is an impressive digital capture of crater Posidonius right on the terminator.
Your excellence in sketching continues.

Frank,

Thank you for the compliment on my Posidonius observation. It was not easy to render but I believe I recorded theajority of features visible. The best of luck in your own observations.

Regards,
Carlos

Fine sketch. It looks to me as the head of an alien creature of a SF-film

Carlos, I'm at a loss for words. It's an impressive sketch, very nice. Serious. I particularly like the surface albedo effects. Very detailed, too. Yea, that's the kind of sketch that looks like the moon through the eyepiece in good seeing. Well done.

Carlos, that is an outstanding sketch loaded with detail, and despite the average seeing conditions you've managed to record an amazing number of features! Your trained eye waits for those perfect moments of clarity and your superb artistic talents, honed over many years, capture it perfectly. Thank you, my friend for sharing this wonderful observation with us!

David,Jef, Rich, Norme, and Tom

Thank you all for the compliments on my Posidonius observation on the terminator. I can not state that all the fine detail recorded was visible at all times throughout the observation, but I did enjoy moments when the seeing steadied to reveal the fine details recorded. I am glad that you all liked it.

Rich- Thank you for the compliment on my observing abilities. I may be getting better with age. The best of luck.

Regards,
Carlos
