Jupiter, Mars and Saturn - March 2014 new
      #6422029 - 03/22/14 11:28 AM

Hi everyone!

Here are my latest astrophotos of the most beautiful solar system planets .

The photos were obtained in Maceió, Brazil. The telescope was a 10" newtonian with a no tracking dobsonian mount and the camera was the Asi120mc.

I accept criticism and suggestions!

Thanks ToxMan!

Hi Preston, thanks!

I stacked 1000 frames in Jupiter, 650 for Mars and 2500 in Saturn. The time period for Jupiter was 3 minutes, Mars 2 minutes and Saturn 15 minutes.

Thanks Flavio I appreciate the information...

Looking at your scope and setup of the ASI120mc, it looks like you have perhaps a Barlow and extension tube...

Would you be so kind as to explain this assembly?

Best Regards,

Preston

Thank you all!!!

Hi Preston, I don't use barlow. For obtain this magnification I use positive projection with a 10mm eyepiece Plossl generic. The distance from the sensor is 60mm.

Just amazing Flavio! Processing and colours are spot on. Your seeing conditions must top notch.
Thanks for sharing.

Flavio thanks, I will have to try this...

Is there a way to calculate the increase in magnification via the 10mm eyepiece and the distance to the censor...I that would be the Chip and not the face of the camera, correct?

Best Regards,

Preston

Those are astounding images for a 10-in scope. Great job! I haven't heard of too many people using eyepiece projection. I've never tried it, but have always heard the results are not as good as using a barlow. I think you changed my opinion. What mfg is your eyepiece? Can you provide any details on the processing?

Thank you all!!!

Hi Preston, you are correct. I still don't know the formula to calculate the magnification with positiva projection...

Hi, Alan. My eyepiece is a 10mm Plossl that came with the scope. The processing was only in AS!2, Registax and Photoscape.

This is the way that I attached the eyepiece+camera to use positive projection:
