Jupiter and Ganymede

Greetings all,

Please find attached a Jupiter observation from the 16th March. I had hoped to view the double shadow transit later in the evening, however clouds came up at 2000UT and that was that. It was rather infuriating- seeing was excellent, but constant drifting cloud kept getting in the way. I did manage to see Ganymede, and the GRS was on the disk. For the first time in ages, the structure in the turbulence just fol. the GRS was quite well defined.

Best wishes,
-Paul

Wow! Just an outstanding capture and sketch as always. I actually thought of you last Sunday night Paul. I thought as I looked at Jupiter in Mike Clement's 70" reflector/dob all I need to do Paul is have you come and observe Jupiter in the 70" that myself, Mike and another friend saw and have you sketch it! That was an awesome view and I'd love to see your sketch after viewing Jupiter in it.

Outstanding sketch Paul, accurate and well drawn. I appreciate the detailed information you include along with your sketches. It's a reminder that careful observers, using even modest sized telescopes, can capture a remarkable amount of detail given the right conditions.

Paul,

An excellent observation of Jupiter and Ganymede in transit. Nice details noted within the NEB and SEB. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Regards,
