I am looking for a decent tripod tray solution (sometime referred to as battery tray, although I wouldn't be using it for battery per se, rather as a general purpose holding area for a mobile setup); I have looked at this...; I am wondering what other options are out there? Let's get to know the good ones. Please post pics of your shelving solutions for tripods, bought or custom built. Regards

You could let the battery hang from the center via a rope to help pull the tripod down. Might make you a little more stable.

The TPI spreader/tray is excellent. In fact the only bad thing I can say about it is that it seems strange to have an AP/Takahashi quality-level piece of kit on my humble Atlas mount.

My further thoughts on it: http://uncle-rods.blogspot.com/2014/02/chasing-supernovae-with-uncle-rod-atla...

Agree with Unk on the TPI gear. That Spreader / Tray is an absolute work of art, and it makes the stock tripod remarkably stable.

My TPI spreader also worked extremely well with the I-Optron IEQ45 Legs effectively turning the somewhat non rigid tripod with the all the rigidity of a pier.

I just rest my battery on the TPI spreader.

I use a 12" pie pan, works great and was cheap.

Thanks to your review of the TPI spreader, went an ordered one, great upgrade and even though I didn't order the try, still strong enough to support my battery, Thanks Uncle Rod.

I think I like this better than my pie pan, bigger.

It's a highly modified Oberwerks, with an ES Twilight head, made by a friend of mine, who has stated 2 is enough.

The original legs and how they attach to the mount, with his update in ash, real craftsmanship!

I just purchased a 14" aluminum cake pan and am screwing it to the center of my Wheeley Bar. My Celestron Power Tank, hockey puck vibration pads and misc. tools should fit in it nicely.

I ran some threaded rod down through the center of my G11 semi-pier, then attached a 16-inch pizza pan. Adhesive-backed felt provides a non-skid surface.

I have the TPI spreader and tray and would not have a tripod without them. If you just got the spreader you might consider making a tray out of something like this.

Cheers!

Awesome Phil!

I'm thinking this would be a good investment for mine.

And thanks for all your tips on the iEQ45!!!!!!!
