Here is the home page web address of the web site I talked about in the "Newbie" thread. See that thread for a bit more of an explanation. The site serves as a good tool for hunting down good observing locations and a grim reminder as to just how much of the night sky we have lost to "civilization".

The world map of light pollution is despressing. I live in Boston and I can certainly confirm the light pollution level indicated on the map for this region and the entire coastal New England area for that matter. This is one of the main reasons why I am moving away from the coast.
