Been drawing/painting for 12 years now but only just started astronomy based paintings so there will be a number of inaccuracies with this one. This is just something I dreamed up about a month ago depicting a (what I think was called) a rogue black hole (a fast moving but small black hole).
The idea here (though quite inaccurate I’m sure but who cares) is that a medium sized black hole is passing through a system devouring all that is too close. The planets near by are being pulled closer to both black hole and star which is both heating them and pulling them apart.
All photoshop.
Hope you enjoy!

WOW. That is really good. Realize I have NO artistic talent, but I definitely recognise yours!!!

I'm not sure if it is innacurate or not. I would guess that the planets would have to be closer before they started getting pulled apart. I might be wrong though because black holes do generate enough gravity to pull one side of an object much more than the other, there by stretching it.
In either case I like the feeling of imminent danger. The viewer is put in the perspective of someone falling. He can see what is happening to the sun, and he can feel the tingling precipice he is about to be ripped from.
I'd suggest a little more of the smoke pull effect on the closer planet. It might look strange though.
Nice work! Science ART rulez!

Thats what I had in mind, I figured that the planets would experience terrible earthquakes, volcanic activity, and so forth as it experiences far greater gravitational forces than it ever had in its past. The idea with the “smoke” is that it is the planets atmosphere being pulled off first being so light, though I believe it is too early for that to happen as I have it depicted if that would happen at all, hell, the sun may burn it off first….

I do have a few for sell at Zazzle but I dont like them (zazzle) too much, they only print at 100 DPI. That and I think all the pictures I uploaded are too dark.... When I get home this weekend I'll create a shop at caffepress.com and sell through them, they will print up to 300DPI and print T-shirts, mouse pads and such.
Just a note, the astro art I'm working on now (not the one above)I cannot sell, they will be for a sci-fi based card game.

Actually, when I get this thing uploaded and get a proof (test print) you will be able to get one for the wall. (something around $13-$17 poster sized)
