Some observations from last month session, at relatively dark site, with 250mm Newtonian:

Messier 101 - Pinwheel galaxy

Messier 3 globular cluster

A galaxy pair NGC 3226, NGC 3227
On M3 and the NGC's - I've tried a non inverting technique this time (black paper) - and so far really dislike it . A regular graphite pencil is much nicer to work with.

Michael,

All beautiful sketches. Great attention to detail.

I think the invert method using graphite pencil and white paper is best for deep sky and black paper works best for Lunar sketching. Just my opinion.

That's a fine view of M101 especially.

By the way it's the Coma cluster, not Markarian's chain
