I have had a look on the lxd55 web site (the one that offers hypertune etc) and I noticed a photo gallery of images taken with this instrument. A number of them showed that the ccd was auto guided.Has anyone on this forum achieved this or knows how this was done. As far as I can see there is no port utility to take an autoguider for the required mount corrections.

Hi, Gordon.
I know of no way to implement conventional autoguiding on the LXD55 mount. It seems as though it should be possible using the Meade "Auxiliary Port Module", which does add that capability to the LX90 - but have heard of no succesful attempts to do so.
The nearest thing (and what is mentioned in that gallery) is a proprietary software package called "Star 2000", which, when used along with some Starlight Express CCD cameras plus telescope control software, does provide some guide capability. It does this by observing the drift of the object and instructing the telescope control program to "nudge" the mount in the appropriate direction via the serial port.

Gordon, just do manual guide. Even if you can get it to autoguide, I doubt the PE is good enough for it.
