Thank you, Glen, for the remark.
The 10" is a f:7.2 and the 6" a f:8.6
That's already a big difference. I'm used to scopes f:10 and higher. For me an f:7 is already a fast scope.

Absolutely Stunning !!!!
I have an LN4e 100mm F10 reflector and mine looks like a scaled model of yours. The focuser on your 10 inch looks like a larger version of the one on my LN4e.
Your guidesope seems to be like the guide scope on my Royal 90mm refractor

I bet the images from this beast are magnificent

I did some research on Astro Optical and had posted my findings on this forum a few years back. I do have an actual photo of your model at the factory in Japan I will try and dig it up

Congratulations - you indeed have a quality and rare instrument.

Steve

Hi Steve,
I'm very curious about your findings about Astro Optical.
Couldn't find them in the archive.
Would be great to see the photo of the factory.

Xavier

Xavior you've got the same sliding weight system as I have on my 20TE. One long shaft and one short shaft. Mike

Just for fun, here are your scope's little brother and baby brother - LN3-E and LN4-E. They are dinky compared to that magnificent LN10-E, but you can certainly see the family resemblance. Now you have to search for one of the 12-E's.

That are great scopes!
You can see that they're family.

Have found a another 15cm (6") Newton on the same mount as the refractor.

The 12"... That must be huge and heavy. You no idea how heavy the 10" is.

The LN6-E is a great scope - a good compromise between aperture and weight. I passed up a chance to buy one when I bought the LN4-E. Habsburg8 (John Siple) was selling off some of his scopes through AMart a few years back and I probably would have bought both of them, but the shipping was ghastly expensive. I think the scope itself went for somewhere around $200.

Absolutely wonderful, pristine Newtonian reflector Xavier. Gorgeous! And in just about mint condition. What a rare and amazing find. The pictures of the complete setup were well worth waiting for.

Thank you , Terra, for the compliments.
The scope is a real time capsule.

Collimated the Newton. So easy. Only had to tweak a little the secondary mirror. The terrestrial views are promissing: sharp and a good contrast.

Xavier
Here are some photos
I think this may be yours - I also got a hold of catalogue from Astro Optical which I scanned and distributed - someone actually had it uploaded to a geodata site- it's there - I am not sure if it should have been uploaded but I can find that for you.
Steve

Xavier the above link was a result of my investigations into a moumt for a 76mm Royal Astro optical scope. It was this investigation that led me to receiving the photos and catalogue. Its a lot of info but there is history of Royal Astro in the writing.
I have in my posession the 60mm f20, 76mm f16, Sears branded Astro Opt 90mm f16, and the 100mm LN4E- All scopes are of premium quality. I cannot imagine how good your 10 inch is.

I have to say though that credit to an individual who made us all aware of this company and its input to the field of amateur astronomy, is John Sipple alias Hapsburg. He was a contributor to tis forum but he has not contributed for a while. He should come back

All my best

Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for this wonderful information. The scope on the photo is the bigger brother of the one I have. It's the 12" Newton. In the catalogue you can clearly recognize it. The 10" in the catalogue has a different mount than the one I have. Do you know when this photo was made?
Xavier

Hi Steve,
You've done a great job in researching Royal Astro. I'll make some time during the holiday to read the complete discussion.
Xavier

Thanks for the link Steve. Have read it many times and like certain movies once I start I have to do the whole thing. The boxes in the link sure look familiar.
