Horsehead and Flame Nebula 24 March 2004 Charles Hover Enterprise, Al.
This image was more a demand of processing skills than imaging skill. This is a combined 2 hour Ha image with a RGB (R)50min (G/B)40 minutes each. The times for the RGB are approximate; I mixed and matched so many different images I forgot the total times involved. To get Alnitak to show its correct size and its companion star, I reduced the glow from around it to almost nothing. To make the picture look semi-natural, I then went back to the original RGB version and cut a large circle from around Alnitak and pasted it in the HaRGB document. I then worked with curves, opacity, and fill to get a light glow that would look natural but also would allow the two stars to shine through.
The Image was taken with a TOA-130, Sbig 10xme, and reducer.
Individual images were combined in MaxIm Dl and all processing was done in Photoshop CS.

Well, the big guns can't have all the fun all the time . Here's my humble M57 Ring Nebula. The shot was taken using an Orion 80mm ED and the Digital Rebel prime focus. ISO was 1600 for a 30 second single exposure. Processing on this pic was resizing and some slight curve use in PhotoShop 7.0 (don't know how to do much else yet). The mount is the CG5-GT and no other guiding was used. I'm still a imager but I love M57 so I figured you may too.
