DSO Links of Interest
      #80174 - 03/28/04 01:41 PM

Hi Folks, sorry this has taken me so long to creating this thread. Please feel free to post websites that you consider useful for DSOs.

Here are a few...

Happy hunting! Tom

www.deepsky-archive.com It is a Finnish run site, but has many DS drawings from (mostly) European observers.
Adventures in Deep Space is great as well, for much more under-observed and difficult objects, such as some of the galaxy clusters: www.angelfire.com/id/jsredshift

This one has been passed around here at CN several times, but deserves more exposure:

Some more deep sky web sites:

http://www.messier45.com

http://www.gatter.demon.co.uk/data/dso_list.htm

http://www.saguaroastro.org/content/downloads.htm
and other lists from SAC, like this one:

http://www.saguaroastro.org/content/Things-to-view.htm

http://www.uv.es/~jrtorres/index.html

though I have not tried his freeware.

The web is a great resource!

This has some pretty good targets and what to expect:

http://www.skyhound.com/sh/skyhound.html

and this site has all kinds of observing reports for all kinds of DSO's with all kinds of telescopes, so you can kind of know what to expect:

Here's a great program-- an NGC/IC observing list generator enables you to create a list according to constellation, object type and magnitude.

I agree, I think the Halian site is great, but what I would like to see is a bigger portion of the sky, perhaps one that you can scroll around.
