After last night i have lost all faith in the websites i use all said that it was going to be heavy rain alnight over Derby but it turned out in be one of the best nights so far for weeks not a lot of cloud and very steady (another night lost). Looking at the weather for tonight all 6 sites i use say totally different reports for tonight. So i was wondering what sites the other members from the UK use and how you rate them for accuracy. Karl.

I don't find any of them particularly accurate if the weather is a bit changable. A fellow member of my local astronomical society just looks at the cloud maps on the BBC weather website and estimates when the weather will hit! To be honest, his predictions are usually a lot better than sites like metcheck!

I use the BBC weather site - I can just put my postcode in and it will give a forecast. But as always with weather here in Blighty, the forecast is more of an educated guess.

Hi, seems that you have the same problem as me as I live in Derby area,
Perhaps its just Derby maybe its the buildings and land around the city causes weather differences to the rest of the country hence a fasle forecast
all the best

It must be, if you ever look at the UK weather map you'll always see a pocket of cloud right over Derby even when the rest of the UK is clear. Where abouts in the Derby area are you Mike ? Clear skys lol. Karl.

Quite a few people use Metcheck
There is a hobbies section also, which includes ASTRONOMY
Another nice feature is it displays the Lat & Long of your town.
Is that any help at all?

I use Metcheck, but it's been almost 100% out recently - predicting 8/8ths cloud cover on clear nights, and vice versa
